Overview of 4th Grade Art

 

In Kindergarten, students explore the theme of Tradition.

 

Students will examine this theme through Big Ideas, including:

• Societies from different times create art.

• People from different times and places value and preserve artwork.

• Art helps us to know and understand other people of the world.

• People create art about their family and heritage.

• Artists choose to follow or break from established traditions.

VA:CR.1.1.4.a. Investigate diverse approaches to artmaking as inspiration to generate original ideas.

VA:CR.2.1.4.a. Select and organize art elements and design principles to depict ideas about tradition.
