Art with Ms. F
About Ms. F.
I am an artist and public school art teacher, living in Olney, Maryland. I have been teaching art for over eight years. I love teaching art and watching my students experiment and create their own masterpieces! I am always inspired by the variety of artwork my students produce. I also offer private art tutoring to enable students to further explore their artistic interests.
I recently graduated from the University of Florida, with a Masters in Art Education. In 2013, I earned my B.A. in Art Education & Studio Art from Hood College in Frederick, MD. My hobbies are riding my Paint horse, creating artwork, & making jewelry. While I love all artwork, my favorite media are graphite, acrylic, and clay.
I was born in Iowa and, while growing up, my family moved to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Maryland, with moves sometimes being in the middle of a school year. I found making artwork to be very comforting amidst all of the changes. Interestingly, the presence of horses also remained constant during my family’s moves. Naturally, since childhood, horses have appeared as the most common subject in my artwork. I feel strongly that all students should have choice and voice in art projects. Since high school, I knew I wanted to be an art teacher so that I could provide students with a nurturing environment and positive outlet in which they can express their thoughts and feelings, be encouraged to take risks, and develop important life skills, such as thinking critically about their environment and making connections with other subject matters and aspects of life.
