Overview of 1st Grade Art

 

In First Grade, students explore the theme of Place.

 

Students will examine this theme through Big Ideas, including:

• Artists design places.

• Places can be real or imagined.

• Environments can be natural or built.

• Artists are inspired by their environment.

• People create art to communicate and understand their place in the world.

• Available tools, materials, and resources influence the way art is made.

• People create art to adorn themselves and their surroundings.
